Deluxe Diaper Harness in Brown Sugar
Poultry cannot be "potty trained" like other indoor pets due to their unique anatomy. They lack the muscle that allows mammals to "hold it". In order to enjoy a pet duck, goose, or chicken inside the home, the fowl needs to be diapered to prevent messes.
A PartyFowl Diaper Harness is essentially a "suit" that stretches, can get wet, and can be easily washed. The harness loops around the fowl's neck and body and uses buckles and adjustable straps to ensure a good fit. The straps connect to a pouch that sits directly under the cloaca (or vent). The pouch is big enough to hold half a disposable baby diaper to absorb any liquids and to catch any solids. The pouch is accessible to change baby diaper without taking off the entire harness. When you purchase a harness, it will include a disposable diaper pad to show how to make more inserts as needed. You can make your own disposable baby diaper inserts by cutting the appropriate size disposable diaper in half.
Special Features of PartyFowl Deluxe Diaper Harnesses:
Pouch Style: Open or Closed Tail
-Open Tail Design *This is the recommended style for pets new to harnesses*
PartyFowl Diaper harnesses consist of a back strap, belly straps, and a pouch. The pouch is designed to sit below the cloaca, allowing the tail feathers to stick out the top, or be tucked into the pouch. This design allows for a better fit for fowl with usual or large tail feathers. The open tail design helps keep waste off the feathers near the cloaca. This open design also allows female fowl to lay eggs comfortably while wearing a diaper harness.
-Closed Tail Design
This style of pouch is designed to enclose the vast majority of the tail region. The tail feathers are intended to be tucked into the pouch. The Closed tail design has extra space in the tail region to help keep waste off the feathers near the cloaca. This design also allows female fowl to lay eggs comfortably while wearing a diaper harness. This style has a small opening near the region on the back where the oil gland sits, much like an open tail style. This opening allows most pets more access to their oil gland, while still having pouch tabs to fit around the pet's body.
***This style of pouch is NOT suitable for fowl with large or unusual tail feathers. Breeds like Muscovy duck or fancy-tail chicken breeds should wear open-tail style harnesses to allow enough room for their long tails.
-Adjustable Fabric Straps
Both the back strap and the belly straps of PartyFowl Diaper Harnesses are made in the fabric you choose and they are adjustable. They can be adjusted up or down to allow for variation in weight of your pet, throughout the year. This design allows for the changes in size, like during laying seasons, molts, and normal changes in weight.
PartyFowl Diaper Harnesses come with an attachment site for leashes (a D-ring at the top of the back strap). It is recommended using stretchy leashes designed for birds or small animals (leashes designed for dogs and other large animals are not recommended for safety reasons).
While often copied, Nettie here at PartyFowl Pets was the very first to create and include this feature into diaper harnesses! The Leak Guard is a special lining sewn into PartyFowl Diaper Harnesses. The leak guard's water resistant coating greatly hinders the ability for liquids to pass from the inside of the diaper harness to the outside. Sometimes poop and liquids can get past the diaper insert and make the outside of the diaper harness's butt pouch soggy. If you have a friendly bird who enjoys being close to people and their things, a wet diaper harness is not desirable. I came up with the Leak Guard idea after finding damp spots on my pants after a duck had been sitting in my lap. The Leak Guard benefits those who have indoor pet fowl who spend much of their diapered time around humans. The Leak Guard also makes the pouch of a diaper harness more stiff, making the pouch hold its shape better. All PartyFowl Diaper Harnesses include the Leak Guard.
The Deluxe Diaper Harness uses black plastic buckles to close the straps and pouch.
The gathered part of the pouch gets it's stretchy quality from elastic sewn inside the fabric of the pouch.

Because every item is handmade, all PartyFowl items should only be washed when soiled. Fasten all velcro/snaps and buckles before washing. All items should be gently hand washed in cool water, with a mild or delicate detergent (like Hand Soap or Woolite), and allowed to air dry flat on a towel.
You can wash your harness in a washing machine separately with all velcro/snaps and buckles closed, preferably on the gentle cycle at a low temperature; however your harness will last A LOT longer if you wash by hand. Harnesses can also be placed in the dryer on a low heat, delicate, or "air fluff" setting, but again, your harness will last longer if you allow it to air dry.
Diapering Needs and Diaper Changing
our pet's diaper changing needs will depend on what species of pet you own, and if your pet is eating and drinking while diapered. Fowl that are eating and drinking will need to be changed more often. It is recommended you change your pet's disposable diaper insert at least every 2 hours if your pet is eating and drinking, and every 4 hours if your pet is not consuming food or water. While the design of PartFowl harnesses typically keeps waste away from your pet's bottom, it is recommended you keep unscented baby wipes available when changing your pet just in case there is any mess left of the feathers. It is important to keep your pet's bottom clean and dry to prevent health problems. If waste is consistently left on your pet's bottom, it can cause a condition called Feather Rot. Please clean your pet's bottom!
Please note that due to monitor settings, dye lots, and creating of graphics can cause slight differences in color appearance.
